Pipeline Version 1.0
(C) by André Wichmann of CLUSTER in Mar/Apr 1990.
Posener Weg 4

This program is Freeware and may be copied as long as this .doc-file is
included and no profit is made by distribution. Please do not spread any
changed version (except if you receive my permission, just send the new
version to my address).
You may use parts of this program if you mention the author.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pipeline - the first PD-game coming from CLUSTER.
Concept: MASTERTRONIC (Locomotion or something like that)
EMPIRE (Pipemania / Pipe dream)
This (a little bit tetris-like) game was programmed because I read a test of
'Pipe mania', and I liked the concept, but did not want to pay 70 DM for it!
So (because I am -NOT- an illegal cracker/spreader) I coded my own version,
releasing it as a FREEWARE-program.This means that you are allowed to spread
it, but without any changes or profits !!! If you have bug reports, improving
ideas or anything else, either send me a letter or write a better version and
SEND IT TO ME !!! You will of course be mentioned if the changes are worth
releasing a new version.
The Game
---------
The idea of the game is to let the oil flow for a certain time.On the play-
field are several walls, specials and a starting position. On the left, five
pieces of a pipeline are shown. You can control the white cursor on the play-
field with a joystick, and when you press the fire-button, the piece on the
bottom of the five can be set to the cursor-position.The four pieces above
will fall one position down and a new (random) piece will appear at the top.
So you must build a pipeline where the oil can flow.It starts flowing after
some time, belonging to the level you are playing. If the time (on the lower
left corner of the screen) passes and the oil could flow correct, the screen
will be cleared and you reach the next level.
The Score
----------
Score is the most important thing in this game. The best 10 all-time players
will be saved to disk, and the goal of this game is to beat the highscore !
For every piece of pipeline the oil flows through your score will raise by
15, if the oil flows twice over a cross-piece (by the way:sorry for my bad
english !) you get a score-bonus of 100.Flowing over a Bonus-piece ('B')
raises the score by 500.The time-symbol will interrupt the flowing of the
oil (useful, useful !) and the '/'-symbol interrupts the clock ticking
(well, should be avoided !).The '?'-symbol forces the RND-demon to produce
a random event, for example a score-bonus, a black hole, wall-mutations, ...
Using a special-symbol will give you a bonus at the end of a level of
Level * 50 * number of specials used.So REAL highscore-hunters (like ME) even
use the '/'-symbol ! By the way, please be sure that the disk is NOT write-
protected if you made a new high-score (because then a black system-request
on a black screen with black letters will appear.Try to hit the 'Cancel'-
gadget or just re-insert the unprotected disk) !!!
The Difficulty
---------------
The higher the level, the more the walls and specials will appear and the
longer the oil must flow ! Have fun in levels higher than level 10 or 15 !!!
Controls
---------
Well, you can not control much, just press the fire-button to start the game,
and, while playing, hit 'P' to pause and 'C' to continue playing. If you hit
the ESC-key, the game will speed up.Why this ? Well, often the player makes
faults and does not want to wait so long.So press the ESC-key and the oil and
the clock begin to run !
Bugs
-----
What ? BUGS ??? In my program ?!?!?
...
Well, ahm, yes, I must admit, the ARE bugs...I hope I can fix them soon.
For example sometimes the music loses a channel ! (Strange bug, because I
used the EAS Soundtracker Reply-routine !) Try to find more bugs (and report
them to me) !
Coming versions
----------------
I want to include an option where other highscore-lists (from your friends
for example) can be added to the actual highscore-list.The best ten will
be taken out of these 20 players.
The levels will have different GFX (maybe, as miracles happen, our GFX-
man loses his actual laziness...).
Thanks.
--------
Thanks and sorry to Philipp Witkop for not using his nice sounds because of
some missing memory !
Thanks to HiSoft (for the GREAT DevPac assembler) and to EAS (for the nice
Soundtracker).
Thanks to Martin Rosenkranz for the GFX and the long time he needed and also
for his 'Nu mach doch mal !!!'s.
Thanks to Steve Tibbett for his USEFUL VirusX 4.0 (What is the name of the
programmer of the Lamer Exterminator ??? Where are my killers ???)
Thanks to Verbatim for the Disks (Never, I say NEVER, buy 'Unimex'-Disks !!!)
Greets.
--------
Hi Lutz and HCF - what about programming (or painting, or composing, or ...)?
Hi GaToR (of EVERY cracker group existing in europe - no, in the world) -
Still spreading and painting ? Never give up !

CLUSTER is a legal programming formation mainly working on Amiga, coding
Freeware (and perhaps some commercial programs later).
CLUSTER was founded on January 1989 with the following members:
André Wichmann, Guido Wegener, Martin Rosenkranz, Martin Baumann, Philipp
Witkop, Stefan Kaspari, Stefan Lietzow and Giang Nguyen.
Then we reduced our members to the best and got a new programmer.
Now, on 08.04.1990, we have the following members:
André Wichmann Coding
Guido Wegener Coding
Martin Mohr Coding
Martin Rosenkranz Graphics
Philipp Witkop Digitizing
If you want to contact any member of CLUSTER (legal !!!) then write to
our address:
